Wedding gowns and formal wear deserve patience, precision and special care. From bridal gowns and bridesmaid dresses to prom and other formal wear, I work through each fitting and alteration to create a beautiful, comfortable fit while preserving the style and character of the garment.

Alterations
From simple adjustments to more complex alterations, I focus on fit, comfort and a polished finish. Whether it’s a favorite everyday garment or something for a special occasion, my goal is to make it look and feel as though it was made for you.
Embroidery
Embroidery can turn something ordinary into something uniquely yours. From names and decorative designs to personalized gifts and keepsakes, I create beautifully stitched details that make each piece truly personal.
Custom Fabric Projects
Some of my favorite projects begin with, “Do you think you could make this?” From memory pieces and home décor to costumes and one-of-a-kind creations, I enjoy turning unusual ideas and meaningful fabrics into something special.
Meet Joan
I’ve been sewing professionally for more than 50 years, although it really began much earlier with making clothes for my dolls as a child. What started as something I loved to do became a lifelong passion for creating, altering and transforming garments and fabrics.
Over the years, I’ve worked on everything from everyday alterations and wedding gowns to embroidery, costumes and one-of-a-kind projects. Some are challenging, some are sentimental, and some are simply fun — and that variety is one of the things I still love most about sewing.
Today, I welcome clients to my Little River studio, serving the Myrtle Beach area. I believe the best work begins with listening — understanding not only what you need, but why the garment or project matters to you. Every piece that comes into my studio receives my personal attention and care.

Design of the Month
Every Stitch Tells a Story — Literally
This month’s featured project is especially close to home — my new embroidered wall hanging welcoming clients to my Little River studio.
I designed and created this piece especially for Sew Special by Joan, combining embroidery and traditional sewing techniques. From the needle-and-thread heart logo to the flowers, songbird and hand-finished border, it brings together many of the things I love about sewing and embroidery.
It now hangs on my newly painted studio door, welcoming clients when they arrive for fittings and consultations.
